About Palpitations
This refers to the sensation of feeling the heart beating unusually—either forcefully (“pounding”), irregularly (“missing a beat,” “skipping,” “jumping around,” or “feeling erratic”), or beating fast (“racing”). Sometimes it can feel like a combination of two or three of these sensations. The most helpful thing is to have an electrocardiogram when the symptoms are occurring, so that the cardiologist can determine what the heart rhythm is.
